Earthquake in Myanmar: Help now!

On 28 March, a severe earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 shook Myanmar and Thailand. The Mandalay region, where the Pestalozzi Children's Foundation supports several partner schools close to the epicentre, was particularly affected. Many children and families are left with nothing. The destruction is massive and the situation is worsening by the hour.
The Pestalozzi Children's Foundation has been active in Myanmar since 2003 and is now in close contact with its local partners. Together we are providing emergency aid - as quickly and effectively as possible.

After the earthquake, the focus is now on emergency aid and protecting those affected. In many places, the infrastructure has collapsed as a result of the quake. There is a lack of electricity, water, medical care - and safe accommodation.
Our teams are working flat out to assess the extent of the situation and the most urgent needs of the children and families affected. Thanks to our emergency relief fund for South East Asia, we can respond immediately. The need is great - and every donation counts.

Myanmar is one of the countries most affected by natural disasters and extreme weather events worldwide. The Pestalozzi Children's Foundation has been carrying out important educational and development cooperation work in Myanmar for 22 years.

Through environmental education programmes, the Foundation works together with local people in a participatory manner to find ways of dealing with the consequences of climate change. This close, long-term cooperation creates trust and direct links with the affected communities - which are now essential in order to provide emergency aid quickly and effectively.
